The Droid Incredible will be receiving the Android 2.2 Froyo update starting next Wednesday, August 18.
Sources have stated that Verizon team members already have Froyo installed on their Droid Incredibles. Now the update is essentially ready for launch. Recently, Froyo has been making its way onto some of the most popular Android phones, such as the HTC EVO 4G, the Motorola Droid, and Google’s Nexus One.
Froyo brings Flash 10.1, faster processing speeds, USB tethering and Wi-Fi hotspot functionality to the Android mobile OS. Also, Google has added new cloud sync functionality into Android 2.2 with the launch of Chrome to Phone.

Google has just announced the Nexus One as their official developer phone. The Nexus One is no longer sold via Google’s online phone store, but it is still available for developers inside the Market dashboard.
The Nexus One is shipping with Android 2.1 and soon after activation, it is widely expected that it will be updated to the Android 2.2 Froyo platform, allowing current and new developers to start using the latest hardware and software to help create the best application. The Nexus One is the successor of the previous developer phone, the T-Mobile G1/HTC Dream (ADP1) and the Google ION/HTC Magic (ADP2).

Just last week, Google announced that it was receiving its last shipment of Nexus One’s from HTC and would stop selling the device directly. Shortly later, Google has confirmed that it doesn’t have any more Nexus Ones for sale since the last shipment has already sold out.
The Nexus One will be still available through retail partners like Vodafone, but Google is no longer selling the device directly. Arguably, the Nexus One has been the best Android experience so far. It will be sorely missed by most Android fans out there.

There are reports on Twitter an XDA-Developers indicating that yet another Froyo build FRF91 is going out to Nexus One users today. It is thought to be an update from the most recent build, FRF85B. Also, it is being reported that both T-Mobile and AT&T Nexus One devices are receiving the OTA update as well. From the looks of it, this new build may be a small update to possibly fix some issues with the latest FRF85b build.

Google has been typically feverish in deploying new Android builds, and we kind of expected Android 2.2 Froyo to be released to retail Nexus Ones by now, but there are still no signs of it. There is no commitment to a firm date for a global roll-out yet. On the Nexus One’s support forum this week however, there’s official word from an Android employee that FRF72 is not the final update and that a release “will only happen once a release candidate meets [their] quality criteria.” Korean versions of the phone are set to launch with Android 2.2 this week, so it shouldn’t take too long now.

Google wanted “more retail availability” for their Google Phone, Nexus One. Now, independent retailers such as iWireless has started offering a few Android devices in the past few days, including Nexus One. None of the 4 big American carriers intend to offer it directly. It turns out that iWireless is an authorized T-Mobile affiliate, offering Nexus One with contract from T-Mobile.

This year, Google announced Flash 10.1 on the new Android 2.2 operating system and other features such as the capability to change your phone into a wireless hotspot. Apple however, held their stand and ignored the fact that people do not want Flash.
Froyo has been an instant hit since its launch. Throughout the past two years, Google has been doing massive giveaways during big events such as the Google I/O developer conference. The giveaways include the Nexus One, Motorola Droid, and the Sprint EVO 4G. Such giveaways is something that Worldwide Developers Conference attendees this year look forward to.
If Apple doesn’t come up with something interesting, Google will continue to grow each day and dominate mobile space eventually.

At Google I/O Vic Gundotra made a big revelation. Last year, Google was activating 30,000 Android phones a day. The past February, that number jumped to 60,000. Today, Google is now activating over 100,000 Android phones a day.
